John O'Groats is the most northerly inhabited village in mainland Britain. While not the most northerly tip of land (Dunnet Head takes this title), John O'Groats is a great place to visit and explore the northern coast.

Wildlife tours run during the summer and there is a regular ferry service over to Orkney (operates daily - for the latest timetable click here).

John O'Groats itself is tiny, so if visiting for the day be sure to plan some extra stops in the area; the Duncansby Stacks, Gills Bay (seal colony), Castle of Mey and Dunnet Head are all within a short drive. There is a small selection of cafes and shops for refreshment and souvenirs.
